Hi everyone, Hopefully you have received your invitation to become an author on the blog which means you can begin to add comments and responses to the tasks set in the course.

Here's a few reminders of what I spoke about yesterday in regard to potential problems and how to deal with them. Basically a list of considerations about things that can get in the way of a smooth experience for you.

-If you don’t get an invitation to your UNSW email then account check your junk mail.

-Set up a Google Account. -We will use Blogger and Google Docs. -Use Firefox or Safari NOT Internet Explorer.

-It’s better (and easier) to get online for a few minutes each day rather than once a week.

-Ask for help if you are having problems.

-Success in this elective means engaging online as well as in the studio.

Ok, please head over the the Lectures page and follow the link to the first online lecture (and the only one until Week 5). At the end of the lecture you find the first Studio Research task as follows:

Studio Research Task 1 (SR1):
due week 2

Select a typeface (eg: Helvetica) or a type-style (eg: Neo-Grotesque) on which you will focus in project 1. Collect a specimen for the type and write a 500 - word critique of its design. This written appraisal will include description of design features (for instance serifs, stroke weight, counters, proportion, suited applications), its classification, and information on its historical background and designer. Include a relevant reference list. Post to the class blog.

I've scheduled a reminder post on this as well so look out for it.

Finally, please feel free to add comments, links to the blog posts here. Simply click on Comments and type away.

  2. Hello, just wondering whether we are to submit SR1 as a blog post or as a printed document to hand in during the tutorial? Or both?
